Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros
Saturday, December 3rd, 2005I just got back from Rockwell and Greenhills. Phoebe and I watched “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros.” Although we weren’t able to catch the beginning of the film, we had a late dinner, we enjoyed it immensely because it’s not just a typical gay film. It dealt with current social issues in the Philippines, particularly the survival of people below the poverty line. The film is poignant as well as funny, sometimes unintentionally funny but I couldn’t help but laugh during inappropriate times. If I’m not mistaken, this was shot digitally then transferred to film because it got really good reviews from film festivals abroad. It even won in the film fest in Singapore and will be shown in the Sundance Film Festival. If you’re looking for a more-than-average Filipino film, I suggest you watch this one.

After the movie, Phoebe and I went to Greenhills for our favorite Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Phoebe wanted to check out the night market and on the way there, we bumped into Armin and Allan, some old college mates. They went with us to the night market but it was already closing and we just ended up standing in front of the place while Phoebe kept on asking us questions about famous lines in Filipino movies and popular theme songs. It drove us all insane and this went on for about an hour but it was good insane cos we just kept on laughing. I had to literally drag Phoebe away from the two because my stomach was acting funny. I think the two regretted bumping into us though.
I need to take my cellphone back to Smart because it’s a bit defective. Grrr. I went there last Monday to have it changed but the lady there told me to drain the battery first and see if that would fix it. Well it didn’t so tomorrow I’m going to demand that they replace the fucking phone. They better replace it or I’ll throw a hissyfit there.
