Suggestions for L.A.

I’m 90% sure I’ll be travelling to the US this May. I’ll visit the bay area, socal, las vegas, and hawaii. I’ve already been to all those places but I need some suggestions with LA. I never had the chance to explore the good sights there even though I worked there for awhile so I want to know all the cool places to visit there including tourist-y places. Please comment here and give your suggestions. I heard about this place called the Farmer’s Market and The Grove but other than those two places, I don’t know other interesting sights in LA to go to.

What type of places do you like to go to? Farmer’s Market/Grove (all in one place by the way) is cute and has great food, but it’s essentially a mall (which I have no problems with because I always somehow end up at malls). There’s always the whole Hollywood thing for the total touristy experience. Museum Row/La Brea Tar Pits area if you’re into that. Santa Monica/Venice for the beachy-type attractions. Griffith Park, Huntington Library, Malibu– all outdoorsy things. Then there’s the amusement parks. Oh so many places to go, depending on your interests :-)

    Mae,

I’ve been to the Hollywood thingy in front of the Kodak theater. That’s not really my thing but at least I got to see it. I guess I want to see all the places tourists go to. I want to see Sta Monica/Venice Beach. What’s in Gfiffith Park and Huntington? Amusement parks, I’ve been to Universal and Magic Mountain (not sure if that’s LA). More suggestions please!

Well, there’s Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland (not quite LA, but Orange County, close enough). Griffith Park’s just a park. Lots of hiking trails if you’re into that. Huntington Library (which I love, but admittedly I’m a NERD) has beautiful gardens and a great library/museum. Here’s a great website on Day Tripping in LA. I use this whenever we have family/friends from out of town coming to visit. Enjoy!
