Direct Hit

Metro Manila took a direct hit from typhoon ‘Milenyo’ last Thursday. It came as a suprise to me because the typhoon was over Samar when I listened to the radio last Monday. I also didn’t know that it would hit the metro so strongly. I live in a low area so we didn’t feel the full force of the typhoon. Still, several trees were felled in my village. Also, an electricity post near my house was badly damaged.

The typhoon caused a Luzon-wide blackout because of the destruction. It took almost 3 days for the electricity to be restored in my village and there are still a lot of areas in the dark.

The government is trying to restore normalcy in the metro but there’s another typhoon spotted and it’s following the path of Milenyo so it’s likely to hit Metro Manila again. I just hope that the destruction we will face will be much less than the previous storm.

[...] There’s a big storm over the Philippines called Reming (international name Durian) and he’s headed straight to Metro Manila. According to the weather bureau, Reming is stronger than typhoon Milenyo. Packing winds of 195 kph, it’s expected to hit the metro by Friday morning…unless it becomes stronger then it will hit here sooner. I guess us Manila boys and girls should expect more damages this time around. A bit scary but thrilling at the same time. At least I think so. Check out this cool flash animation of the typhoon. I just saw Michael V’s ‘Hindi Ako Bakla” on MYX and I’m impressed. He really does look like a gay in the video but he really isn’t. I’ve seen him around Shangri-la with his wife and kids. Anyway, I googled for information about the video. According to some blogs, the character Michael V. plays is Tom Yang, a closet gay. Ugh, sounds like it’s a reference to real life pinoy social butterfly Tim Yap. [...]
