It is written in the cards

Friday, February 16th, 2007

IMG_0078.JPGI had a mystical night tonight. I was with Jenny, Eric, and Erwin at Metrowalk awhile ago and the couple (Jen and Eric) treated us to a nice dinner at Capisce. After dining, we headed over to the nearby Starbucks. On the way there, I noticed a tarot reading booth. I inquired how much a reading is since I haven’t done my reading for this year. It’s only 300 pesos so I said I wanted one.

Before the reading, I told Jen to remember everything the tarot reader said cos I easily forget. I also instructed Erwin to take photos during the reading so I could document it for this blog.

IMG_0081.JPGJani was the tarot reader. I will just give the gist of the reading. He said that I over analyze everything. I have too much baggage and that’s causing me to not achieve my full potential. I’ve built a wall, a really thick wall, around myself to protect me from getting hurt but it’s causing me to distance myself from others. He’s an empath and he almost cried while he told me that. He told me to be at peace with myself, to forgive myself and others who have done me wrong in the past. I should unleash my passion so the water (creativity and happiness) would flow. He added that I should be patient and to decide what I really want to do in life because when I do that, I will not fail even if I encounter difficulties because I’m doing something I love.

As for my being materialistic, he said that I should give away something and not expect any karmic gains in return. Through that, I will learn about balance.

IMG_0082.JPGFor my love life, Jani saw a man will be a part of my life this year. He will be from another land, smaller than me, younger than me. But I need to break my thick wall first because even if I make an effort to become more approachable, my subconscious rebels and sends out the message to the universe, telling the opposite sex to back off. Ugh.

As for the enemies I made in the past, he said that I should just let them go. I shouldn’t worry about them. He said that the situation is very emotional at the moment but someday, it will be resolved.

IMG_0080_1.JPGWith regards to my career, he said I should find what I really want to do and that should be something I will love even if there are difficulties. I would be successful and he said I would have a partner, a male partner. He could possibly be the guy from my “love life” question or somebody else.

I didn’t ask this one but he asked me why I didn’t want to have my own family. I said that I didn’t want children. He proclaimed though that I will find happiness in children. Plural, not singular. I will have kids daw. Oh my!

IMG_0083_1.JPGHe said that only I have the power make all this possible and I’m the fairy godmother who can grant my own wishes. So for it to materialize, it is in my hands. I should start from the core and be at peace with myself, follow my bliss and stand by it, but I shouldn’t worry because according to the cards, if I really want it truly, madly, passionately I will never fail.

He gave me a red envelope (ampaw) before I left. He told me to keep it in my wallet and not to open it. I should only open it when it’s an emergency. Hmmm. I wonder what’s inside it. I think the gesture is sweet though. All these for only 300 pesos! What a steal!

Trip to Quaipo

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Is it just me or is the internuts in Asia back to normal? Oh…it’s just me. I should be in bed now masturbating I mean sleeping but hell. I’m still up. Good thing I won’t be in the office since mom, Jenny and I are going on a little trip to Quiapo and Tutuban. Yes, we’ll be “masa” this time.

Quiapo will be an errand for me. I want to canvas professional camera prices. Hopefully I’ll find something I can afford for my business. Normally I would consult the manghuhulas and mangungulams there but after my last experience with a tarot reader, nevermind. I’d rather do my own readings.

The Tutuban is purely for pleasure. That will be my xmas shopping. Okay, post-xmas but I will be shopping for xmas presents, it’s the same difference. The stuff in the mall should be dirt cheap by now so I’m quite excited. I’ll try to convince mom to buy a mannequin since she’s making me sell her old clothes on ebay.ph and there are 3 boxes full of them.

I talked about that visit to a reflexologist in my last post. I forgot to mention that we had a bit of a chuckle over my large legs and dirty feet. He asked me why my feet were dirty and I reasoned out that my shoes are semi-open. The truth is, I don’t really scrub my feet and dirt tends to gravitate toward them. The man ordered me to wash my feet and wipe my soles with a rag. Hahaha. I am the hygiene queen!

Another Boring Post

Sunday, December 3rd, 2006

I was supposed to go out with my friends last night but a sudden emergency made Phoebe unavailable so I had to postpone the birthday gathering. It’s okay since I had to finish the ad lay-out my cousin commissioned me to do for him. The pay isn’t much but it’s easy work so I’m not complaining. Since my mac is in the office, I had to do my graphics there. I arrived around 5 PM and I think I finished the lay-out by 7 or earlier. By that time, I received Phoebe’s message so when my cousin said he wanted to see the work, I told him to go to the office to check it. We revised it several times but he liked the final outcome. We finished past 8 PM and we were famished. We decided to go to Podium Mall and eat at Burgoo. I suggested that we go to Chili’s or National Sports Grill but my cousin complained that those were too far.

In Podium, I window shopped for a while. I went to Dexter shoes and found an extra wide loafers I could wear to work. Problem is, it costs 5,800 pesos. Too much! I’ll think about it though. After window shopping, we headed to Burgoo. We got the Seafood Caesar Salad, the Salmon in Spinach and Cream sauce (mine), and the Oklahoma Ribs (my cousin’s). I liked my food but my cousin’s steak wasn’t tender. I told him to complain but he said it’s okay. He didn’t want to ruin his good mood. His friend Mike joined us and ate his leftovers. Mike has a new cellphone with wifi. It’s a nokia but I don’t know what it’s called. It’s interesting for me because of the wifi but it doesn’t have a camera. He got it for cheap though. He said he could get me one for the same price but I’m not really interested. I have other things I need and they’re more important. Besides, I already love my phone. My cousin wanted dessert so he ordered mud pie. It was good and it was gone in an instant. Mike had to return to his work (he works in Podium) so cousin and I decided to leave. He dropped me off at the office since I left the car there.

Happy Birthday to Me

Monday, November 27th, 2006

It was my birthday yesterday and thankfully, I didn’t get depressed. My celebration started last Saturday when my office threw me a birthday party. It was great and I had fun. We had lots of food and we did karaoke. The party ended a little before 7 PM and I think everyone had fun. Yesterday, I celebrated it by going to Rockwell Mall to look for shoes. I couldn’t find any that fit though. Very frustrating but I didn’t let that get to me. Instead, I just went to Fully Booked and bought 7 books. Yeah, a lot! They didn’t cost me much though because I get 40% off on my birth month for being a cardholder. I bought the following books:

The Rincewind Trilogy (Gollancz SF S.)Gods Trilogy Discworld OmnibusThe City Watch TrilogyThe Illustrated Jane EyreThe Illustrated DraculaBrave New WorldPerfume: The Story of a Murderer

I’m particularly excited about The Illustrated Jane Eyre because it’s illustrated by Dame Darcy. She rocks! After Rockwell, mom and I had dinner at National Sports Grill in Greenbelt 3. We were supposed to dine at Mario’s but our made cooked paella for lunch so my paella fix was satisfied quite unexpectedly. My sister couldn’t come with us because she has tons of projects for school to finish. The dinner was still great though. We ordered calamares, San Francisco burger, and Patty Melt. I was given vanilla ice cream with sprinkles since it was my birthday. We also had free mud pie for using an HSBC credit card. We couldn’t finish all the food so we had them doggie-bagged, including the mud pie which melted.

I still have one more celebration to go and I scheduled it for Thursday since it’s a national holiday the next day. I only invited a few friends though. I don’t want a repeat of last year’s celebration when a lot of the people I invited didn’t show up for my party.

Marie Antoinette

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006
marie antoinette

I watched Marie Antoinette this afternoon with my new friends Chito Rico (Sorry! I’m bad with names) and Luna. I met them through a Philippine depression mailing list I joined a week ago. They’re great and we could relate with each other because we’re all going through the same thing. I’m glad I joined the group. I hope I will become friends with the other members. Maybe I’ll finally have a support group and a social life.

Marie Antoinette was great. Sofia Coppola showed a different side of the notorious historical figure and in the process, the viewers get to understand and relate to Marie Antoinette. Honestly, I didn’t know much about Marie Antoinette except for her famous words (”Let them eat cake”), how hated she is, and that she still makes an appearance as a ghost. Coppola reminded us that M.A. is young after all, that she was given heavy responsibilities and was put into too much pressure, that she had difficulties with her marriage, and that she is female. The M.A. in the film reminded me of today’s socialites. People like the Hilton sisters and other trust-fund babies who just want to party and live the life. They’re young, love to party and experiment, has money to splurge on clothes and stuff, and they’re also portrayed negatively in media. Perhaps the film is also a commentary about them. What I loved most about the film is the visual eye candy. I love Coppola’s use of bright colors and how she framed Kirsten Dunst surrounded by flowers. The set design and costumes were great although I’m not so sure if they’re historically accurate. I also loved the scoring and soundtrack she used which added a modern touch to the film.

We watched this in Greenbelt and the cinema was full. I don’t know why this film is only being shown in Ayala Cinemas. I think a lot of young people would like to see this. I feel like watching the film again. Maybe I will with mom.

Powerbooks Outlet Store

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

I got an email invite two weeks ago from Powerbooks inviting me to their 3-day warehouse sale last weekend. I wanted to go I told some friends about it. According to their invite, there will be up to 30% to 70% discounts plus a surprise awaits me. So last Saturday, I went with Phoebe despite the blackout. I thought the sale would be postponed but the warehouse has a generator so it pushed through. In fact, there was even A/C. The warehouse had a transformation since the last time I’ve been there earlier this year. The area in which the sale was held really looked like a Powerbooks store. It had shelves and bins. The books were also categorized. The new look pleased me but nothing really registered in my mind. I managed to buy 5 books at a decent price. I was wondering what the surprise was and I learned that place will serve as an outlet store. The books will be marked down 10 to 20% from the regular bookstore prices. It will also be open Mondays to Saturdays, 10 am to 7pm. A wonderful surprise indeed! Best of all, the warehouse is near my house.

The new outlet store is located at #25 Brixton Street, Kapitolyo Subdivision, Pasig City. Their telephone number is 4901158.

P.S.

Powerbooks didn’t pay me to announce their new outlet store. I just wanted to share this information with fellow booklovers.
