I need a computer desk!

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I want a computer desk/vanity for my room. I’m just using a lap desk and it’s ruining my posture which is bad to begin with. I saw a really cool glass desk at Crossings Department Store but it’s huge and VERY expensive. It’s around 9,000 pesos. I’ll check out other malls but in the meantime, I’ve been browsing the next for design inspiration.

Surreal Furniture

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I was reading design blogs when I saw these furniture by Vincent Thomas Leman and fell in love. I want them in my dream house!

They remind me of Edward Gorey’s artworks. I wonder if I can have similar cabinets made here.

Modern Alchemists and Purveyors of Curious Goods

I stumbled upon D.L. & Co. by accident and fell absolutely in love. It’s gothic luxury at its finest!

Douglas Little is the man behind the company. He’s also a decorator and stylist whose designed special gothic window displays for Bergdorf Goodman (It was featured in House and Garden magazine. See photos here under events.). Here are some of my favorite items from his shop.

I saw this item in Modern Alchemy but it’s not in the online shop. I want it sooooo bad.

D.L. & Co. also sells fragrance candles but I have to smell them before I decide if I like them or not. My olfactory nerves are really sensitive.

All of the items I posted are expensive. These are luxury items for the monied romantic goths. I want to own a perfume watch or even the diffuser but I can’t afford them. I’ll just keep on dreaming…

Papier Tyvek Bags

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

I really like these paper bags by Saskia Diez. They look really neat.  I don’t know about the durability but Tyvek is a high-density polyethylene and is the material of shipping envelopes. According to Hypebeast, it’s tearproof and waterproof so I suppose the lifespan of the bag is long.

Hospitalis

Monday, January 26th, 2009

I found out through BoingBoing about Hospitalis, a hospital-themed restaurant in Rida, Latvia.

It is a must-see place if you like gore things. The restaurant looks like a medicine cabinet, while you are treated as a patient and taken good care by the long-legged waitresses in nurses uniforms.

The food is served in flasks and operating-room’s dishes and isn’t that cheap (7 and more lats per meal), but this is a bizarre experience that is worth breaking the bank. Besides, the place is owned by local doctors, but unfortunately, the president of Latvia, who is also a doctor, declined his appearance at the opening once he realized how weird this place actually is.

I don’t know if the food served there tastes good but the design is awesome!

Uh the food doesn’t look appetizing at all. Still, when I find myself in Latvia (yeah, right) I’ll check out Hospitalis.
