Life Aquatic

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Celebrity Skin, General, Moving Pictures

I just watched Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and was astonished that Wes Anderson used Filipino actors to act as pirates. I found it very amusing.

I found the first hour of the film boring and I thought that it would bomb but by the end of the film, I was crying. Hay. Idol ko na talaga si Wes. I loved The Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket, and Rushmore. Ang galing galing.

Freaks and Geeks

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Geek the Girl, Moving Pictures

Freaks and Geeks - The Complete SeriesWoohoo! I finally got the Freaks and Geeks DVD set I ordered from Amazon last month. I was expecting it to get to me earlier but whatever. At least it’s here now. Much thanks to rained.org for sharing that it’s easier now to get shipment from Amazon. Apparently they now outsource a logistics company here in Pinas. There goes my budget. I want to order some more!

Some of the stuff I’m planning to get:

    • The Adventures of Pete and Pete 1 & 2
    • Degrassi: TNG 1 to 4
    • Degrassi Junior High: The Complete Collection
    • Entourage 1 and 2
    • Absolutely Fabulous: Complete DVD Collection

I’m beginning to love Amazon but I just wish is free or much cheaper.

Don’t make me walk the plank

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Humor Me, Moving Pictures

I just watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and it pains me to say that I didn’t enjoy it much. Most of the time I found myself lost in thought and not focusing on the movie. I think it’s too long. I also had a difficult time understanding the pirates with their unfamiliar “Gaaar” accent. Maybe I have to watch it again but I think I’ll wait for it to appear on DVD so I can have it with subtitles. Mom and my sister liked the movie a lot though so I have a feeling that it’s just me who got bored.

Did anybody else notice the resemblance between the villains and the metal band Gwar? I think the resemblance is uncanny. I have a feeling that there are a number of headbangers in the conceptualization team for the movie.

    Sunday Yackity

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Moving Pictures

I’m watching tv while posting this. I just saw a guy a had a one night stand with. He has a new band so they were interviewed. Ho hum. I think his band sucks but it’s becoming popular here. They’re so mainstream so the masses will eat them up. Blech.

I just watched “Superman Returns”. It was okay for me although I want to kick Bryan Singer for giving too much extreme close-ups to Brandon Routh. He has too much make-up that he looks plastic. Creepy. But I have to admit, Brandon’s hot. The costume department should have emphasized his package though. It looks too flat.

I can’t wait to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. I love Johnny Depp and I love him as Captain Jack Sparrow. It will premiere here on the 12th and I want to watch on that day itself. I’ll see if I can manage to do that. I don’t care if I have to watch it alone. Love love Johnny so it’s worth it.

I’m thinking of making a new theme for this blog. I’m starting to get bored with it.

    Eight Below

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Moving Pictures

My friend Louie treated me to a yummy dinner and a movie last night. We watched Eight Below and I liked it. Not a lot but the dogs are just so cute. And hey, those dogs can act. They should get a large salary for appearing in the movie because they act better than some human actors in Hollywood.

    I actually went out!

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Around the Metro, Dorama, Friends, Moving Pictures

Couldn’t sleep (Argh) so I’m reading my blog links. Neil Gaiman thinks that the Philippines is the world’s most enthusiastic country. Cool. And this one is for Louie since we’ve been oo-ing and ahhh-ing over the pen Mr. Gaiman used. I got this from his journal.

The pen I’ve mostly been using is a 1950s Omas flexinib. If you want one like it it’s cheaper to find old flexinib Watermans on eBay. The ink I’ve mostly been using is Mont Blanc Bordeaux I got in Singapore. It’s not my favourite ink (I’m not a big Mont Blanc fan) but it’s a decent colour and I love the bottle design.

    That pen sounds expensive. Haha.

Ack! Neil was with Poppy Z. Brite. She’s one of my favorite authors. I like her better than Gaiman in fact. Ack ack ack! She’ll never go here but if she does, I’ll be the first one in line.

Enough about Mr. Gaiman, I actually went out today (technically last night but my days are skewed). I went to a bazaar with mom and I bought some cheap clothes, bagel chips, and oatmeal cookies. Yummy. Then watched ‘Fantastic Four’ with Louie at Gateway Mall. It was my second time at Gateway and it brought a lot of the book signing memories. ‘Fantastic Four’ was amusing. More fun to watch than ‘Batman Begins’ since it had funny moments. But it’s not as deep as the latter if you can call it deep to begin with. I like The Thing because he was such a dear. He had a lot of self-image issues to contend with. Mr Fantastic was disgusting though. He also looks a bit like my nerdy therapist. I don’t really have much of an opinion on the movie as you can see. After the film, Louie and I had late dinner at the food court. I tried Jumbo Japs and found their Teriyaki salty. I think their crunchy Ebi Maki is really good though. Cheap too. Only cost me 79 Pesos. I wanted to drink Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf’s The Ultimate but decided against it because I might have trouble sleeping. Should have gotten it since I’m having sleeping anyway. We left the mall after that and went to my house. I burnt Louie a copy of Long Vacation which I hope she’ll like. My CD burner is slow so it took ages to burn the 7 discs so while doing that we talked and watched TV.

Louie said she likes the way I write and I find this strange. I think my writing sucks. It’s very raw. Sometimes crass. Not organized at all. Also lacks focus. I can never write with flowery words. I’ve tried that and found that it’s just not me. I am not into poetry but more into prose. Tried to write poems before and flopped so decided to stop and basically lost interest. Also tried doing prose but always lost interest in the middle of stories. Too bad since some of them really had promise. I’m self-deprecating yet self-absorbed. Shallow yet have clear insights sometimes. Boring AND endearing which seldom goes hand-in-hand. Louie, you are my only fan. Hurray for that! (laughs)

    Kamikaze Girls

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Are We Not Femme?, Japanophile, Moving Pictures

I just finished watching Shimotsuma Monogatari (Kamikaze Girls). It’s a movie about a loner who is into Gothic Lolita clothes who befriends a tough biker girl. I found it very amusing at first because of the lovely visuals but I became bored during the second half. I really liked the clothes though. So kawaii but if you wear those here, you’ll certainly be stared and mocked at. I had a Loli dress custom made for me but I don’t have the guts to wear it yet. I also don’t have the right shoes to go with it. It’s cotton candy pink and really frilly. I can probably wear that with white mary janes (which I don’t have) or cotton candy pink flats (which I also don’t have). Anyway, here’s some photos from the movie.

    drunk by drowsiness

Posted by: User Imagedementia   in Moving Pictures, My Body My Life

My mind is a Chow King Halo Halo right now. I haven’t slept for two days. Normaly I retire to bed around late morning or early afternoon but I was feeling energetic around 12 PM so I decided to hit the gym. It was okay eventhough I didn’t have much energy. I must have looked a bit weird there though because I was kind of swaggering. I stayed there for 2 hours and I even managed to get my own physical trainer starting this Monday. I seriously need to lose weight. I don’t really mind being fat but I don’t feel healthy anymore. Yeah, not healthy at all and my knees are always complaining.

Hey, I can still type well considering I am uber sleepy.

I just got back from watching Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. I prefer the film rather than the texts. The books bored me. Ordinarily, I prefer book versions rather than the film versions but Lemony Snicket the movie rocks. I love the mise-en-scene, the costumes, the storyline, and the actings. The end credits kicked ass too. I love the film but sometimes I found myself dozing which is a grave sin in my opinion, at least when it comes to this movie.

I was planning to write something else here but my brain is a mush. I recommend that you readers try not sleeping for a couple of days. It gives you a different kind of high (or low) and it wouldn’t cost you a cent. The effects are the same as being drunk with alcohol. You blabber…incoherently. You swagger. You get lost and forget things. When you talk, it is louder than normal. The only thing different is there is no hangover!
