A lot of stuff

July 5, 2005

Gah gah gah!!!!!!! I slept early last night. Well early for me anyway. I slept at 1 am but I woke up at 6 pm! Gaaaaah! That’s 17 hours. I thought I would wake up early like 10 am at least but I ended up waking up at the same time when I sleep at 11 am. Bugger.

I’m beginning to like blogshares. I still get confused with how it works but I have a lot of blogshares money now and some chips. And I get more by linking to other blogs, doing missions, etc. The really good thing about it is I can exchange the chips or money for this blog’s improvement. I just sponsored a mission to improve this blog’s crappy PHP and CSS and the prize I’m giving away is 1 million blogshares money. See! I don’t have to spend real money on this crappy blog. I just hope someone takes up the mission. Another thing I like about BS is the good links I find from visiting other member’s blogs. I visited Channel 9 Style and found out there’s a live monopoly game on the net. You have real live London cabbies as game pieces. I chose Christian McCann because he looks hot. I just joined so I don’t know if it’s fun but I still like the idea of a live monopoly game. If I live in the UK, I could even get real prizes but since I don’t, I could only play the game online. I also got another good link from Channel 9 Style. It’s for the longest email address. It’s at www.abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijk.com and I signed up eventhough I will never check my email there.

I’m still irritated with this blog because of the commenting error. I don’t know how to fix it. I don’t know if the problem is with the sql database. I already checked and it seems fine. So maybe the problem is with my coding. *sigh* Whatever. If you want to comment, you’ll see a bunch of errors when you press submit but the comment gets through.

Shitty blog

July 5, 2005

I am still awake. I am a person with no self control. Arghhhhh! My blog is going haywire and I don’t know what to do. I tried manually upgrading it through FTP and now Fantastico says it that from now on, I have to upgrade manually everytime. I think that sucks because upgrading manually takes a lot of time and bandwidth. So I tried removing wordpress through Fantastico but somehow I cannot remove the damn blog. It is here to haunt me! If I was able to remove it and lose all data, that will blow but starting from scratch isn’t THAT bad. Fuck you, blog! I hate you and all your fucked up coding and mysql errors. If you were a house, I would burn you down.

Annoying day at the gym

July 4, 2005

I just got back from the gym. I haven’t been there for ages and I didn’t really feel like coming there today…but I did. Anyway, there was this trainer there who suddenly appeared in front of me while I was working out. She started talking to me and I really really didn’t feel like talking to anybody. So I answered her questions with few a words as possible and didn’t turn off my ipod. She didn’t get the hint at all! She kept on following me and talking to me that it made me lose concentration. I even bumped my head on a machine because of her incessant talking. Grrr. She said that she’ll give me a free training on Wednesday but I doubt that I will show up. I miss my old trainer who knew when to shut up. Too bad she quit and never returned the book I lent her.

Pride

July 4, 2005

Yay! I’m working on my sleeping habits. I slept all night so I could wake up in the morning. I woke up at 3am which is fine because it’s still quiet and nice. I guess I should always sleep around 9pm so I could get up that early. I can do this!

I was just watching episode 1 of Pride. It’s a new Japanese drama starring Takuya Kimura. I’m very impressed with the typesetting. Especially with the fansubber credits and the karaoke. I loved the effects that I didn’t notice the dorama itself but just kept on watching the credits run. The fansubbing was done by Japan-TV and I’m proud to say that I’m a staff. I use the alias “stargirl” there. So far, I’ve worked on Long Vacation, Meteor Garden, Monkey King, Bus Stop, and the current one is Boku dake no Madonna. Mostly I do editing and quality check which are very easy tasks but I love doing it.

Hmm. My computer is about to crash. Better restart.

Pining for an Apple Powerbook

July 3, 2005

I really want one. Can even be any good laptop, not just powerbook. I don’t have my own computer. I share this with my sister. But a powerbook is so powerful. Duh. But I can do so much with a powerbook. I took up filmmaking and with this, I can make digital movies and edit them with this. But dammit! It’s just so expensive. Hay. I wish I were loaded.

I suck!

July 3, 2005

Yesterday was a very productive day. I spent quality time with the family, made those firefox plugins, and went to our carwash to see how the business is doing. Yes, that’s productive in my book since I’ve been such a sloth lately. Like today, for instance. I did nothing at all except surf around the net. Bugger. I actually had plans to go out with Louie but I had a hard time sleeping last night that I felt weak when I woke up. I guess it’s because of the Iced Coffee I drank while watching the movie. I had to postpone my plans with Louie and good thing she understood.

I made my sister upload the following photos I took with my camera phone. I have a nokia 3660 (I think. Not a fan of Nokia) and it doesn’t have a cable connection for the PC and my crappy computer doesn’t have USB. So I sent these pictures to her phone via bluetooth and since she owns a P910i, she can upload files via USB. Damn! I have a crappy phone.

I had another white cat but he suddenly disappeared. I don’t know if he got catnapped or died. It’s quite sad cos I’m very fond of my cat Luna.

In other boring news, I added a bunch of buttons and other blog playthings again. I love that Blog Ecosystem thingy. This blog barely gets traffic so I’m an insignificant microbe! Cool!

Nerd!

July 2, 2005

Ack! I’m such a geek. I tried to make a firefox search plugin for jdorama.com and was actually able to make two. It wasn’t hard but it required some analysis. Hmmm. I’m actually proud of this accomplishment but it goes to show that I have too much free time. Well, the plugins are here in case you’re a jdorama.com user or fond of doramas and japanese artists.

My next project is quite easy but I really like it. I’ve been exchanging emails with Estelle (formerly of the band Brittle Stars). It started when I wrote to shelflife asking if they know where I could find lyrics for Brittle Stars’ songs and I guess they forwarded it to Estelle and she wrote to me saying that she’ll send the lyrics of the songs I want. So I told her some songs and asked if I could post them on my website. Today, she sent the lyrics and said that it’s okay to post them. Well, I want to take this further and make a small tribute page to Brittle Stars (they’ve disbanded). I will host it here and I’m trying to decide how it looks. I’m not a good webdesigner (just look at this template! it’s messy!) so I should just stick to a simple design. I haven’t started on this project but I will soon. And I hope to actually complete this. I have a bad tendency to leave projects half-finished.

Neil Gaiman coming to the Philippines

July 2, 2005

I just learned that Neil Gaiman (famous for the Sandman comics) will be coming to the Philippines. He’ll be signing books in the following Fully Booked branches.

Rockwell - July 9
Greenhils - July 10
July 11 - July 11

I don’t know the exact time he’ll be there but I want to see him in person. I’m not a big fan and hardly read Sandman but I’ve read all his books and loved American Gods. I’ll probably make him sign my copy of that or my hardbound Coraline.

I was in Rockwell’s Fully Booked earlier and saw Tim Burton’s “Match Boy and Stick Girl Box Set” which I have on my Amazon wish list. They’re selling it for P1,350. I was already in the queue for the cashier but decided not to buy it since I still have a sizable credit card debt. Oh well.

I think it lacks taste but informative nonetheless. Here’s a list of uncircumcised male celebrities which i got from the popbitch newsletter.

Batman Begins review

July 2, 2005

I just got back from watching Batman Begins. So what’s my opinion on it? Well, it’s okay. Quite disappointing because the story has so much potential but some parts of the movie just didn’t work well. Some elements were quite confusing. The director could have banked on how Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox worked on each of Batman’s weapons and gadgets. An example is the sonar device for the bats? I was thinking ‘where the hell did that come from?’ when the bats suddenly appeared. I also think Ducard lacked motivation for destroying cities. The thing I found appealing about the film is the appearance of Dr. Crane simply because he looks like a dreamboat. He’s so pretty but I got unnerved with his eyes. Can eyes be THAT pale blue? He was ugly in 28 Days Later so what happened? Did he get plastic surgery or something? But I digress. Batman Begins is a film with a lot of potential which the director wasted. I don’t know what he intends to do with the sequals but he better get his act straight cos the film bombed in the Philippines and I believe bombed in other countries as well.
