I love my cats

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I prefer cats to dogs. They need less attention and I have to earn their affection first. That pretty much reflects my character. I have 4 cats currently, technically three cos 1 is a stray who comes and goes. Aria is gone now (I will always miss you, my pretty Aria).

My cats are quirky which makes them more endearing.

Vyolette

Vyolette

Vyolette is the mother of my other 2 cats. She’s a pure Persian which mom and I impulse-bought from Tiendesitas 3 years ago. She became scrawny after giving so many births but after she got neutered, her thick coat returned and she became plump. She loves sleeping in our terrace and goes out occasionally, especially if the neighbor cats bully her sons. Vyolette is very vain and most likely you will see her licking her fur. Her eyes are big and round and she loves menthol. When my mom uses salonpas Vyolette wants the wrapper so she could lick it.

Elmer

Elmer

Elmer is the least affectionate of the three. He is Vyolette’s first born and when he was a baby, he was so fat that he couldn’t stand nor walk. We thought he was lame but after a month, he was finally able to stand up and take his first steps. Elmer hates strong smells so when he catches a whiff of something he doesn’t like, he will keep on blinking. Elmer has no balls literally and figuratively. He often gets bullied by the village cats. Even the birds who hang out in the village park heckle him. He has a “boses kiki” which he got from his local cat dad.

Midnight

Midnight

Midnight is the most affectionate cat I know. His dad is a local cat but I couldn’t remember which. He is not afraid of heights and mom saw him walking on a cable wire like a tightrope walker. This cat has a fixed schedule. He eats breakfast at 6 AM then roams our house to look for a spot to sleep in. Often he chooses the sala couch. He sleeps until 6 PM just in time for his dinner. After that, he goes outside to hunt and go around the park and neighbors. He goes home at 6 AM in time for breakfast. Midnight hardly complains. I can take him anywhere and dress him up in silly clothes and he doesn’t mind. Since he’s very sweet, he often gets bullied too and some tomcats think he’s female and they try to mate with him. Poor kitty.

Now you know a bit about my cats. If you love kitties too, why not follow my Fuck Yeah Kitties on Tumblr which is all about…you know.

What makes me happy

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I’m a happy-go-lucky person yet I also have clinical depression. Sometimes it takes little to make me happy but there are times when I find it so hard to even smile. So this post will be about the people who helps me smile no matter what I’m going through.

My family

My family is always there for me and they give me comfort when life is doubly hard. I may be a disappointment to them sometimes but I know that they still love and accept me.

Vyolette

Vyolette

Elmer and Midnight

My cats. I love them to bits even if they ignore me most of the time. Their presence comforts me especially if I am troubled and need comforting.

Friends

My friends. I love them and I’ll be lost without them. They make me laugh and they give great advice. They help me stay sane if I’m having troubles in other aspects of my life.

To my family, cats, and friends, thank you so much for making me happy and I’m so glad you all are a part of my life.

This is my answer to Get Lippie’s post.

Death Camps For Cats

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

I got this from Helga’s blog.

Thousands of pet cats in Beijing are being abandoned by their owners and sent to die in secretive government pounds as China mounts an aggressive drive to clean up the capital in preparation for the Olympic Games.

Hundreds of cats a day are being rounded and crammed into cages so small they cannot even turn around.

Then they are trucked to what animal welfare groups describe as death camps on the edges of the city.

The cull comes in the wake of a government campaign warning of the diseases cats carry and ordering residents to help clear the streets of them.

Read more about this cruelty here. I will be boycotting the Olympics. Well, I was never interested in it anyway but now I have more reason why I won’t watch it on tv.
